Who are racehorsesNZ?
RacehorsesNZ is a boutique thoroughbred agency that specialises in the expert selection of NZ tried horses. It is an agency that utilises the expertise of top data analysts, Group 1 winning bloodstock consultants, strategic advisors and much more. We have had a lot of success for our international clients with the likes of GRINGOTTS (Gr1 George Ryder Winner, Group 3 The Gong Winner & 2 x Listed Winner), REAL CLASS (Gr2 winner on New Years Day), MOLLY BLOOM (2023-24 NZB filly of the year & Gr1 winner and multiple Group winner); all tried horses purchased from NZ. RacehorsesNZ uses the same analysis and selection methodology we use to purchase and manage top horses for The Frac Club.
RacehorsesNZ is an NZTR Authorised Syndicator for each and every one of The Frac Club managed horses.
How do we select our horses?
We use in-depth pedigree analysis, physical inspections, veterinary examinations, performance rating and data analysis. We select horses that have proven thery can run time and will continue to improve. We make sure they have the ability to show up and perform in Australia so they have the option in their race planning to travel over and race for big Stake Money. If brought with a possibility of a future in breeding we make sure their pedigree has the strength to enhance their value at the end of their racing career.
What does The Frac Club Manager do?
First and foremost the Manager is responsible for the managemet of the Horse and then to ensure everything runs smoothly for all the Ownership Group with an interest in the Horse. This includes the welfare of the Horse and the best interests of all of the Fractional Owners. If the Manager determines that racing, or continuing to race, the Horse is not in the interests of the Horse itself or the Ownership Group, then the Horse will either be sold, or if it is an entire (a male horse that has not been gelded) retired to stud, at the Manager’s discretion. If the Manager considers the Horse has no significant commercial value, the Manager may, at its discretion, rehome the Horse or transfer it to a rehoming program. In each case, the Manager’s decisions in relation to the Horse are subject to the Manager’s ability to deal with these decisions in accordance with the relevant ownership percentage held by the Syndicate in accordance with the Rules of Racing.
How do I make a return on my Investment(s)?
All Net Prizemoney, Sale Proceeds from the sale of the Horse or interest in the Horse, or Breeding Proceeds from breeding revenue in respect of the Horse, will be distributed to the Ownership Group in the same proportions as the number of Shares held, after the payment of Frac Club costs and expenses.
What kind of return will I receive on my Investment?
While we do everything we can to put everything in our favour to get the best out of the Horse we cannot guarantee a level of return on your investment.
We also like to make sure that gains on your investment aren't always quantified in monetary terms. The enjoyment had by Frac Club owners either on race day or through regular engagement and community interactions create moments in time that are irreplaceable and best served shared!
Who chooses the jockey silks?
Where the Frac Club Manager is appointed as the Racing Manager, the Horse will likely run under the Manager’s gold colours and silks. Where Frac Club Manager is not the Racing Manager, the colours will be determined by the Racing Manager in accordance with the terms of the relevant co-owners’ agreement.
How do I know there aren’t any conflicts of interest?
All aspects of the purchase and management are adhered to by NZ Racing. All valuers, syndicate managers, trainers, jockeys are approved by NZ Thoroughbred Racing and are governed by a code of conduct and rules of racing. We ensure we only deal with license holders that are transparent and ethical.
Is the Horse Insured and if so what type of Insurance?
Yes! The horse is insured for mortality and theft and is insured to the market value you have paid for your share.
Am I able to communicate with the trainer, jockey or vet direct?
No. All Fractional Owners are prohibited from contacting anyone directly. Please direct all communications through The Frac Club management by either emailing thefracclub@gmail.com, phoning 0800 733 722 or through the racehorsesnz.com website options.
What is expected of me as a Fractional Owner?
As the purpose of the The Frac Club is to generate a positive, social experience for all Owners we expect you to support your Horse, engage positively, & without prejudice, in The Frac Club community, comply with the Rules of Racing and act in the best interests of racing and The Frac Club.
What updates should I expect?
As a Fractional Owner of the Horse, you will receive via the Manager at least the same level of communication from the Trainer as is normally provided by the Trainer directly to the owners of other horses. Trainers are expected to provide video, voice, photographic or text updates on a regular basis. As well as our #ThatDataGuy who will provide regular sectional and performance rating analysis for your Horse. We will have your Horses’s Groom provide impromptu updates and regular Jockey feedback.
We love to know what our thoroughbred is doing at all times and we will provide that information to you!
How do we ensure our Horse’s welfare?
The Frac Club Manager will put the well-being of the Horse as the first priority in the experience, and as such will take all measures to ensure the well-being of the Horse. Part of the Share Price collected from Fractional Owners includes a component for the costs and expenses associated with re-homing the Horse at the end of its racing life.
